Meet Dr. Venus Tran, DMD Dr. Venus Tran was born and raised in the Bay Area, California where her passion for dentistry stemmed from loved ones’ lack of oral health care access. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from California Polytechnic, San Luis Obispo, a special place that formed her enamor for natural sciences and the Pacific Ocean. Dr. Tran decided to move across the country two months after graduation to pursue a Master of Science degree from Boston University in Oral Health Sciences to further deepen her foundational knowledge for a career in oral health and prevention.Dr. Tran received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine located in Boston, MA. Dr. Tran has a passion for service and making lasting impacts in the community. During dental school, she held numerous leadership positions, helped to establish a community service organization for the local Boston Chinatown community, and revitalized global service trips after the pandemic put everything to a halt. Dr. Tran led a dental service trip with fellow colleagues to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to provide oral health care to marginalized communities, which inspired her to continue serving underserved demographics back in the States. She was nominated to receive the International College of Dentists Humanitarian Award for her altruistic efforts throughout dental school. Dr. Tran then went on to complete a General Practice Residency at the Louisiana State University Medical Center and Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System in New Orleans, LA to serve immunocompromised patients and veterans, respectively, in hospital settings. During her time in New Orleans, she discovered her interests for oral surgery, emergency dental care, oral health education, and advocacy. The on-call duties as an emergency department resident in the Deep South were enriching experiences that changed the trajectory of Dr. Tran’s life and patient care philosophy. Dr. Tran is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Oregon Dental Association, as well as the Louisiana Dental Association. She is a lifelong learner who will always provide patients with evidence-based explanations, diagnoses and treatment plans, and techniques. Dr. Tran understands that dental appointments can be daunting and the importance of working with each patient to develop individualized plans for all oral health care needs. Dr. Tran is ecstatic and privileged to return home to the West Coast to practice at Mid-Valley Family Dentistry. Her extensive travels and adapting to many different environments (and climates) allow Dr. Tran to compassionately care for patients from all walks of life. Dr. Venus Tran has the extensive training and experiences to offer comprehensive dental care, where her goal is to treat each patient as if they were family. During her free time, Dr. Tran is a natural adventurer who enjoys spending time outdoors, discovering new restaurants, playing sports, travelling, and most of all––finally being within an hour flight to visit her family and loved ones in California!
